Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to Fourth Grade and your first intermediate grade. I'm looking forward to a challenging and rewarding year with your child. During this year, your child will see tremendous personal and educational growth and will learn to accept the responsibility of fulfilling their academic assignments independently.
I expect all students to complete morning work and afternoon assignments each day, as well as taking notes and defining highlighted words in their core academic subjects. Incomplete assignments must be completed at home. Assignments will be checked each day for completion; the students will maintain their notes in a five subject, Three-Ring Binder for Math, Science, Social Studies, English, and Religion. It is imperative that every student organize their notes well as they will need these in order to review for exams. Additionally, the students will keep a Daily Writing Journal, and a Homework Folder. The Homework Folder will be carried home each day and returned the following day with their completed assignments and any parent communications for the teacher, nurse, or office.
Homework will be assigned Monday-Thursday, and must be copied into student's homework assignment pad. Homework is usually begun in the classroom, but must be completed at home. Parents are urged to question their child regarding their daily accomplishments in school. Poorly done homework, may result in the child having to re-do their homework.
All assignments including classroom, homework, Book Reports, are used in calculating the student's final grade average in all subject areas each marking period. The student's grade will reflect any incomplete or missing assignments. We ask parents to see that homework is completed each night and returned to school the next day.
My door is always open. I look forward to a wonderful year, filled with many new adventures in learning. I am committed to making this year a positive learning experience for each child in the Fourth Grade and I am confident that together we can make this a successful year for your child.
Our special schedule for the year will be:
Friday: Music
Friday: Gym
Wednesday: Art
Welcome to Fourth Grade! I look forward to a super 4th grade experience with your child.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Claudia Rafael
